Back-Blast: Hamburger Hill – Grandview Heights AO Launch 9.21.17

AO: Whineman’s Hill (aka Wyman Woods Park)
When: 0530-0615

QIC: Mariah

0530: Several men arrived early to the new AO and we started promptly with a mosey to tour the grounds after YHC shoveled the flag with pride.

COP:
SSH x 30
Cotton Pickers x 20
Windmills x 20

We don’t have a lot of time and there were many sights to take in so we took a short mosey to the northwest corner where it was dark, but YHC brought a headlamp.

THE THANG
10 Burpees OYO
Charge the long hillside into the darkness…
At the barricade up top we propped our feet for Derkins x20 IC, and Dips x20 IC
REPEAT x2

Mosey back down hillside carefully and over to another hill (Whineman’s Hill)
20 Squats IC
Run hill up and down
15 Merkins IC
Run hill up and down
10 Burpees OYO
Run hill up and down
6 Full Prisoner Get-UPS IC – This was a new one (fingers locked behind head the whole time flop to laying and stand back up without using hands or arms)

Run hill to right and keep going up, up, and up to the grass landing up top for MARY.

LBCs IC x20
Plank Jacks IC x20
American Hammers IC x15

Mosey back down the hillside carefully and over to the rock wall for plank walks.

Entire PAX lined up the rising wall from low to high to walk hands and feet along the rising wall in a reverse indian run format. After 90-120s we had taken on too many casualties to continue so we started a long mosey indian run up the hill along GV Ave all the way to the top and all the way back around the entire park to the flag.

One more round of MARY
WWIs IC x20
Bicycle Crunch IC x20
Flutter Kicks IC (by Tony Paco) x25

Count Off, Name-O-Rama, COT

The goal today was to learn the lay of the land together as a group and get some work in along the way. Mission complete. The PAX is getting stronger every day, and I think several were still hungry at the end. For many this has been a long week, YHC included and it means a lot to be surrounded by others willing to rise early for some of the work being put in. Working out alone is sad and lonely. Proud that we’re launching a new AO in the community of Grandview Heights and looking forward to watching it grow.

YHC – Mariah
