The Bear Back Blast 1.8.18: Winter Wonderland

Weather: 32 degrees with a wintry mix

As YHC reviewed the forecast yesterday, it was evident the weather could get interesting this morning. Ice, snow, rain were some of the possibilities, therefore, YHC made several contingency plans for this work-out to allow for the influence of Mother Nature. Besides, the worst challenge would be to design a workout for the ice and we never get ice. YHC awoke at 0400 to the sight of glistening driveways and sidewalks, shit!! we got ice!! Crossgrain sent a message warning everyone that it was icy. I chuckled at his quote “I expect the rest of you guys are smarter than Bo and I and won’t be there!”. Crossgrain, you have greatly overestimated the collective intelligence of the PAX!!

As I arrived at 0525, I quickly realized that it wasn’t very slippery on top of the snow. My plan began to form. At 0530 the PAX gingerly mosied to the track and gathered at midfield for COP:

SSH IC x 30

Imperial Walkers x 20 IC

Sun Gods x 15 IC forward, x 15 IC backwards

Cotton Pickers x 20 IC

Hamstring stretch, one knee on ground, reach for the other extended leg

Then a mosey to the practice field for THE THANG:

PAX formed groups of 2 for a little Dora action with one PAX #1 running to the fence and back (about 60 yards total) while PAX #2 performs an exercise, then switch. The following exercises were performed by each tandem:

180 degree squat jumps x 50

Lunges x 100 each leg

Squats x 150

Monkey humpers x 200

Next circle up for 20 toes touches IC

Then mosey to the tennis courts for suicides with 10 star jumps between each

Next circle up for various planks with 10-count from each of the PAX

Mosey to shovel flag location for Mary with each of the PAX picking an ab exercise:

Jumper: elbow plank x 30-count

Teach: hollow rocks x 10

YHC: Freddy Mercury’s x 25 IC

Mogul: leg climber IC x 10 each leg extended

Chicken Little: Butterfly crunches x 20 IC

Crossgrain: oblique bends x 10 IC each side

Bo: Fat man twist x 1!!!

Then name-o-rama, BOM as Jumper (welcome back man!) led us in prayer. Very impressive to see 9 HIM’s post in a wintry mix that led to school closures and multiple cancellations on YHC’s clinic schedule! Great work men!!
